Jonathan Jones is Director of Procurement at the University of Birmingham and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS). Since joining the University in 2013, Jonathan and his team have moved the procurement operation into the top Level 5 of the Flexible Framework for Sustainable Procurement (1 of only 2 Universities in the UK), the University is also 1 of only 8 UK Universities to hold the top status (Superior) in its Procurement Maturity Assessment.
Jonathan runs a fully centralised procurement team of 45 staff at the University and manages an annual procurement spend of over £300 million. Jonathan has also previously held senior roles in the; Local Government Association, Wolverhampton and Birmingham City Council’s and the NHS. He has also spent many years as a tutor for the CIPS and taught on the MSc procurement programme for the University of Birmingham.
