Peter Schofield


Head of Integrated Commissioning and Procurement, Manchester City Council
Originally qualified as a Chartered Civil Engineer, Peter has had a varied career during his 40 years in the Public Sector including delivering construction projects, managing front line services and promoting efficiencies through collaboration.
Peter has been Head of Integrated Commissioning and Procurement at Manchester City Council since April 2019. This was preceded by 7 years delivering a collaborative procurement programme across the Greater Manchester region, delivering financial efficiencies and supporting new ways of working across a wide range of services whilst developing a regional approach to Social Value that supports delivery of the regional objectives in the Greater Manchester Strategy.
Current challenges include developing a consistent approach to Contract Management across the authority to support the Integration of Commissioning and Procurement whilst promoting Ethical Procurement to deliver inclusive growth, address modern slavery and tackle Climate Change within service design and procurement processes.
